gracias.-
Almagro is big... but for me, it just goes between Corrientes Ave. and Rivadavia ;-).
I moved here four years ago, and I feel like I lived here all the time.
Inflation-beating prices? Well, I suggest the Leader Price supermarket for meat and basic groceries. It's also one of the few places where you can get sugar at the official price accords price (four bags of half-kg per person).
One of the best pizza places in BA is Tuñin (Medrano y Rivadavia ave.), but their prices are insane and went up rouughly 50% in the last couple years ($30 for a pepperoni pizza? $25 for a ham and mozzarella?).
I lately switched to the Zapi chain (www.zapi.com.ar), which while not as good, are OK for the mid-week night pizza.
Always do the right thing and ask for a ticket/receipt. Verdulerias are notorious for their lack of tickets and invoicing. I feel I'm the only one paying taxes and I hate to see people around me always trying to do things "en negro".

Tuñín is a piece of history and has a great pizza, estoy de acuerdo Gaucho-nerd! The best in Almagro!
Hey, Mike!
Your maps are great! Lemme tell you that we´re living in Almagro for 3 years know, and we love this hood...and there are tiny lil places, "La Procaccia" is one of them, that we love. It´s in Guardia Vieja casi esquina Medrano. A take away-delivery, with 2 tables...great pizza & empanadas. Try ají en vinagre...or the fugazzeta rellena por porción (the porción comes bigger, more muzza!). Fainá is also good (but it has "it´s days"...)
Listen to Bagelazo, peeps!
They know from what they say.
And be sure to visit elbagelazo.blogspot.com for ANOTHER world-regarded bakery item!
